Zimmer’s ‘La Crique’ mixtape extends last days of summer

Posted on Sep 8, 2013 in Indie Dance, Mix, Nu Disco

Well, guys… I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but summer’s winding down and school’s starting up again. If you haven’t already started the daily routine of dining halls and class discussions at ungodly hours, it’s coming soon enough. Say hello to novel-length term papers, tests, group projects (oh god), and goodbye to multi-day music festivals, weeklong retreats to Vegas/Cancun/New York, and waking up at noon everyday. But essentially, to quote Mike Jack: This is it.

Fortunately, summer is a state of mind aside from a season, and this La Crique mixtape from Zimmer is the perfect way to keep your spirits as high as the current heat wave temperature. The Parisian producer of “horizontal disco” pulls his influence from the sophistication of his home country as well as the carefree coolness of California. This mixtape is a classy balance of mainstream songs fused with fun, tropical disco bass-lines and laid-back grooviness. Whether you’re poolside, bedside, or months from now in the dead of winter, press play to get sucked back into summer starting with a sexy nu-disco version of Michael Jackson’s “Rock With You,” and take it from there.
