Rex Riot - Fake The Magic

Posted on Sep 5, 2013 in Bass, Experimental, Future

Let me preface this by mentioning that there is so much to say about this album, I’m going to try and keep it short and sweet so you can just start listening.

For those who aren’t yet familiar, Rex Riot is a producer based out of Washington DC. He’s been making serious waves over the last couple of years with releases on Play Me, Heavy Artillery, T&A, Moveltraxx, El Cuco, and more. In 2012, his track ‘Head Vice’ was played all across the world after it was picked up by Nintendo to serve as the soundtrack for the official launch trailer of the Wii U gaming system.

This week Rex has released his debut artist LP entitled Fake The Magic. The ten-track album is like nothing you would expect, running the musical gauntlet from the gospel-trap behemoth ‘Dichotomia’, to the dissonant bass monster ‘Tenebrae’, to the squelching dance-floor heater ‘The Preacher Man Change You’, to the indie rocker ‘What You Don’t Know’. This album arrives at a time when EDM is in desperate need of a push forward and it succeeds brilliantly to that effect.

Break out of your comfort zone and give Fake The Magic a full listen-through.
