Something for the Weekend: Poolside Beats

Posted on Jul 13, 2013 in Chill, Deep House, House, Indie Dance, Nu Disco

It’s the middle of yet another summer, and if you’re anywhere like we are in the fabulous city of Los Angeles, it is an absolute scorcher. Yeah, it might have sprinkled here and there earlier in the week, but we refuse to let it rain on our liquor- and fun-filled parades as we elect to stay out all day and night long for the hell of it. Some of us feel ourselves in dire need of a tan (guilty), and if the beach isn’t an option, nor a road-trip to the day clubs in Vegas, then to the pool it is. But what’s a pool without a party? And what’s a party without music? Call up your friends, bring on the bikinis and trunks, and run out for some cold ones. Here’s a list of some poolside sounds to add some chill to a hot summer’s day:

The White Lamp – It’s You (Ron Basejam Remix)
Some sensual deep house to start things off.

Kendrick Lamar – Swimming Pools (Whitesquare Remix)
A song appropriately titled for the occasion, Whitesquare gives it a house spin and makes it more summer-friendly and stirs in a bit of trap

Xtrafunk – Deep Down (feat. Loumar & Nas)
Some extra-chill slow-mo disco goodness that’s just right for sitting poolside with your feet in the water and enjoying the slight breeze.

Ben Westbeech (aka Breach) – Something for the Weekend (Joey Negro Remix)
The song for which this article is named is the epitome not giving a damn and living up the weekend, but when it’s summer… every day is the weekend

Baio – Sunburn Modern
Straight summer tropic-tribal with Baio, aka Chris Baio from Vampire Weekend.

Miguel Campbell – Something Special
Diving right back into the deep end with Hot Creations’ own Miguel Campbell with some steamy, seductive vocals from a song that’s a bit older than others on this list, but still incites a rise in party-goers everywhere

Adana Twins & Robosonic – La Fique
This was featured on ICGYH not too long ago, having been released late last month; it’s got some solid 70s disco vibes (even if the song it samples is from ’82) that turn your jacuzzi into a legit hot tub time machine

Nora en Pure – You Make Me Float
Because no one can ever say no to an Aaliyah sample. Ever. This will rock the boat- er, the house

Trinidad James All Gold Everything (Whitesquare Remix)
Because… oh, what the hell. Swag on, my friends.
