Hayden James – Permission to Love EP

Posted on Jul 2, 2013 in Chill, Electronica, Nu Disco

With the summer weather looking to be an absolute scorcher for the foreseeable future, Hayden James finds a way to match the heat with a slow-burner of a summery, dreamy disco jam in his Permission to Love EP. James, a producer/singer/songwriter out of Australia, makes his solo debut for the Future Classic label, which has also played host to music by popular artists such as Flume, Flight Facilities, and Anna Lunoe. The title track features soothing vocals over a slow and sensual disco groove, which makes it best suited for play whilst lounging on the beach. Following the original song is a pair of remixes: the first, by Charles Murdoch, takes on more of an electronica feel (think toned down trap) with a faster tempo that’s choppier in rhythm and bears little resemblance to the original save for spare usage of the vocals; the second remix, by Touch Sensitive, takes James’ summer disco to a deeper level that translates more to the dance-floor with a slightly harder bass-line.
