Tiga vs Audion – Let’s Go Dancing (Solomun Remix)

Posted on Oct 24, 2013 in Deep House

Ladies and gentlemen, we finally have a winner.

Dance-floors everywhere have been getting down to the tune of “Let’s Go Dancing,” a collaboration between the electrifying Tiga and Audion, the guise under which Matthew Dear goes level: techno. It’s been hailed by many as “song of the summer” if not of the year, and with remix duties tended to by Breach and Maya Jane Coles, it understandably deserves attention. There’s just something about it, however, that’s off-putting to me, personally; perhaps the lyrics get just a little too repetitive, or maybe the beat is just not quite strong enough to carry the heavy drone of the vocals.

All of that was negated when the Solomun remix popped up on Soundcloud. The Diynamic label boss drags the song back into the dark, hazy depths of the underground with a lengthy instrumental introduction, subtly chopping the lyrics in a way that makes them seem dark and seductively dirty. The extended build-up to the re-entrance of enveloping bass was made to keep dance-floors squeamish with anticipation, while twisted synths turn the song into a slow-motion trip.

While the remix EP doesn’t drop until next month, you can still check out the track below.
