Michael Gracioppo – Creep ft. Wayne Tennant

Posted on Aug 20, 2013 in Deep House

Innervisions adds another notch to its belt with the release of “Creep,” by Michael Gracioppo. The label, headed by Dixon, and Khristian Beyer and Frank Wiedemann of Âme, is an homage to the Innercity club nights in Berlin, which is how it got its name; since its inception in 2005 as a sub-label to Sonar Kollektiv, it has become its own independent and deeply respected mainstay in the underground circuit. Following a short series of EPs from artists like Ry, Ame, and the currently anonymous Ten Walls, “Creep” keeps all eyes and ears on Innervisions.

The song features vocals from Wayne Tennant, which follow a long introduction of reverbed piano keys and a melodic crescendo of rainfall as they evolve into a deep, minimalistic pulsation of brooding darkness. Tennant’s voice is soft, simultaneously soothing and haunting, and its lightness brings great contrast to the gloomy tone. This song was made for lurking in the shadows of European warehouses during the night’s darkest hours.
