Dillon Francis - Without You (ft.TEED) [Preview]

This isn’t the Dillon Francis you know. Apparently amongst all the moombahton, nu jump up, and IDGAFOSs, there was an emptiness in the Mad Decent producer’s soul. To fulfill this void, he teamed up with Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs (TEED) and replaced the heavy party sounds with heart-fluttering “love music”. The result is a tastefully touching and heart-striking track that just might be one of the best of the year.

“This song is very meaningful to me” Francis reveals, “because as TEED and i were working on the song i was having relationship problems of my own. He ended up writing the song about the whole situation i was going through..” (sic)

The production works in complete harmony with TEED’s vocals, and while there is definitely some iconic Dillon Francis in there, it’s drowned out behind fuzzy synths and a bittersweet melody. The track never really jumps off (at least not in this rip), but it does progress into a last-two-standing sunrise dance track.

We’ve seen the many faces of Dillon Francis, but we really haven’t heard anything too different until now. “Without You” proves just how much of an artist the sensitive producer really is. Yeah he brings delicate melodies to their demise with floor shattering drops, but he also knows how to use music as more than just a party starter.

This track is going to be huge when it’s released August 6th. Hear it first below and pre-order via iTunes. And while you wait, check out TEED’s debut album Trouble for some more deep electro pop.
