Balcazar & Sordo – Sacrifice

Posted on Jul 3, 2013 in Dance Floor, Deep House

Balcazar & Sordo are a pair of producers hailing from Guadalajara, Mexico who, after years of performing solo, decided to team up, and have already captured the attention of artists like Maceo Plex, DJ T., dOP, Luciano, and Audiofly. In the short time that they’ve been collaborating, they have released on highly respected labels such as No. 19 Music, Hot Waves, Leftroom, Dirt Crew, and Noir. Their take on house is of the deep and dark variety, and their latest work is no different: “Sacrifice” is one of many dark-room, deep house bombs on Get Physical’s Full Body Workout, Vol. 11 compilation made for long, sweaty nights on the dance-floor. As a self-described sucker for 90′s-early 00′s hip-hop and R&B, the fact that this song samples Usher’s “U Don’t Have to Call” and turns his smooth crooning into a menacing, scratchy vocal is simply icing on top of a brooding beat that gets downright ominous at the breakdown.

You can listen for yourself below (at least for the Usher nostalgia), or you skip ahead and buy it on Beatport.
