Alex Young - Mastermind [Free Download]

Nope. You’re speakers are not blown. That’s just the not-so-sweet sound of Alex Young absolutely killing it.

“Mastermind”, his proclaimed “anthem of the summer”, sounds anything but for the first minute or so with synths heavily cloaked in dark 80s distortion. The build-up that follows is seasonably bright, but that’s where the summery sounds end. Darkness quickly returns when the track drops into sweaty industrial minimalism which would sound hysterically out of place at any and all beaches.

Ironically, all this is revitalizing. Alex Young doesn’t seem to care what the weather’s like, he’s gonna rage the way he wants, unfettered by summer’s popular beach culture. And with “Mastermind”, he’s crafted an incredibly seductive piece of music with a hard, but danceable edge. Download it for free below!
