Electric Forest Preparation Guide

Posted on May 31, 2013 in Events, Preview

From June 27-30, 2013, deep in the woods of Rothbury, Michigan there will rage a party unlike any other on the planet. It’s the last festival that should go unnoticed, and no matter where you live, if you consider yourself part the electronic music community, you should be there… and that’s why we will be. Electric Forest is PLUR realized (if you didn’t already know).

The four-day camping festival features major DJs and producers from across the Earth, music from emerging artists, art, and such an unprecedented level of audience integration that it’s been called “the ultimate festival experience” and “one of the world’s best music festivals”. Whether you’re just hearing about this now (tickets still available), are already planning your trip, or have your sights set on free tickets for next year, ICGYH can help you become part of this incredible experience.

Music

You can plan to see Above & Beyond, Knife Party, NERVO, Benny Benassi, Tommy Trash, Morgan Page, Krewella, Madeon, Baauer, and a whole lot more including many big non-EDM artists like Empire of the Sun, Yeasayer, and Passion Pit. But since most of you are likely plenty familiar with these names, below are three that might pleasantly surprise you.

You can also partake in a silent disco and three in-house affiliated parties. Check out Fool’s Gold Clubhouse with A-Trak for some hip-hop infusion, The Movement Electronic Music Festival for rising talents like RL Grime, and plan to take a trip Deep In the FOREST if you’re vibing some nu-disco and deep house.

Feel free to view the entire schedule and full list of performers as well.

Get involved right now!

In case you want to fully immerse yourself in the festival, there are several ways to make it happen.

The Human Avatar Project allows you to integrate your face digitally into the festival by having it included in a collage of others and projected onto the blank face of avatars. All you need to do is submit a picture or video of yourself and you’ll be part of the “collective unconscious of the participant experience”. Submission deadline is June 23rd but you can also record yourself on site at the Human Avatar Booth located inside a digital tree stump during the festival.

There’s also still time to catch your big break and be part of the lineup. The Discovery Project is still seeking undiscovered DJs and producers to perform at the festival and be considered for Insomniac’s forthcoming DJ management and music marketing program! To enter, just show Insomniac what you’ve got by submitting your latest original track along with a thirty-minute mix by June 6th.

If you’re interested in winning tickets to next year’s Electric Forest, fire up your inner party planner. Tell Electric Forest what you’d do with a 50×50-foot camp space and be handsomely rewarded with up to ten tickets for 2014. Deadline is June 12th.

Random Fun

Of course there is so much more to Electric Forest than just the music. There’s the Gold Rush Water Park, a disc golf tournament, lakefront activities, and golfing to name a few. Also, the newly constructed Cerebrum of Sherwood Forest will provide your eyes with a unique, ever-changing visual show, and there will be a live painting by LEBO who has painted for artists including the Beastie Boys, Thievery Corporation, and Willy Nelson.
