Miguel – Do You (Cashmere Cat Remix)

R&B artist Miguel has been scorching the airwaves since September with his single “Do You,” showing off that smoooooth voice and heart-stopping falsetto. This slow-burner received some creative treatment from Norwegian producer Magnus August Høiberg aka Cashmere Cat, who has making his mark in today’s music scene with his futuristic, laid-back interpretations of hip hop melodies, including remixing for artists like 2 Chainz, Jeremih and Drake.

Miguel’s crooning and Cashmere Cat’s chill beats seem to go hand in hand, as the Cat doesn’t completely do away with the baby-makin’ quality of Miguel’s song, but rather turns it into a light, almost playful, encounter with some tropical-sounding harps arpeggiating throughout. And let’s face it: a Miguel song ain’t a Miguel song without that voice. Add a bass-kick and some claps, chopped n’ screwed vocal samples, and a softer, more refined touch of trap, and voila: futuristic, bass-y goodness as smooth as Cashmere.
