Major Lazer – Lazer Strikes Back Vol. 2

Major Lazer strikes again. For Free! Now just a month out from the April 15th release of “Free of the Universe”, Diplo and crew have released their second volume of “Lazer Strikes Back”.

Of the four tracks on “Lazer Strikes Back Vol. 2″, three are new remixes to the same originals found on Vol. 1 - “Jah No Partial”, “Get Free”, and “Original Don”. But don’t think Major Lazer is short-changing you, these are all very different sounds. Check out and download the tracks below individually, or just get it all free straight away.

The first track up this time is “Original Don” remixed by Flosstradamus. Nothing too crazy. The remix actually brings the intensity down a bit and adds a subtle trap vibe.

The Reef bring us into the depths of the tribal sound with the ritualistic remix of “Jah No Partial”. The wet, heavy drums keep this one far from the original and completely hypnotic.

Blood Diamonds’ remix to “Get Free”, like the original, is very chill (as one might expect from Blood Diamonds). However, unlike the original, this is more sunset-chill. There are some beautiful flowing strings and cool-down synths here that make this one a true cruiser. A much different take on the track than Yellow Claw’s brilliant remix on Vol. 1, but very refreshing nonetheless.

Last up is “Talk ‘Bout Me”. A smashup of Popcaan, Major Lazer, and Baauer. I know what you’re thinking - “Harlem Shake” - and that’s exactly what we have here. It’s the reggaeton version of “Harlem Shake” with steady vocals.

Major Lazer is certainly holding up his end of the bargain when it comes to not letting us starve while we await the April 15th “Free the Universe” release. In the meantime, also be sure to check out the album’s latest leaked single, “Jessica”, and if you still have a craving, join the movement and team up with Major Lazer on the current tour!
