Ricky Vaughn - Count It Off

Posted on Feb 26, 2014 in Bass, Hip-Hop, Moombahton, Trap

Anyone for RV Club? Sazon Booya’s “Mr. Vega” has returned as Ricky Vaughn and he’s not taking “Moombahton is dead” for an answer.

His new track “Count it Off” is raging fun in the way an out of control party is - one hell of a mess. Experimenting at 108bpm, Ricky Vaughn produced the track to “show what can be done” at the tempo.

In case you missed it, an article written by Vaughn for EDM.com criticizes the complacency of current music culture (not just electronic), noting “I don’t see [creativity] anywhere”. Moombahton isn’t necessarily dead he adds, it just needs to evolve. And that’s where RV Club comes in.

“Count it Off” is similar to Moombahton but there’s definitely a smattering of other genres in there as well, including hip hop. To keep the track completely ambiguous, the only vocals allowed are those included in the random array of samples.

Whether Vaughn’s just trying to ignite some creativity, post an experiment, or really create a new genre, there’s no doubt he’s keeping you on your toes. Throw all your cares (and genre preferences) to the wind and join the the Ricky Vaughn Club.
