Estiva & Johan Vilborg - Mondays

Posted on Oct 23, 2013 in Progressive House, Trance

“Mondays” is a new single released on Enhanced Recordings from Swedish talent Johan Vilborg along with the Dutch Progressive Trance artist Steven Baan, better known as Estiva. Johan Vilborg is a computer engineer by day and a producer on the side, but I am sure he will soon quit his day job with the recent success of his Enhanced productions including his collab with Adam Szabo called “Two In One.” You may recognize Estiva from his track “Better Days,” a 2011 single that demonstrates his flair for teaming an emotional melody with dance beats. The pair met on a Swedish party boat called “Mondaybar” and indeed, the boat inspired the track’s title.

If you like the sound of choppy vocal trance and nice piano chords, this is going to be a candy bar of a tune for you. There really is no build, the synths come in and immediately stab like many of the trance productions from Enhanced Recordings. The Enhanced Label is one of the most consistent labels as far as big room house/progressive house/trance (trouse? has anyone accepted this term?) and both of the artist’s on the track are signed to Enhanced. So no, it’s not a wild diversion from the expected. The female vocal component says nothing comprehensible, however the synths and the voice dance around one another to create a unique melody. The first time I heard Mondays was in the last couple minutes of Mat Zo’s Mix #006, and it really stood out for me.

“Mondays” will be the second track featured on Digitially Enhanced Volume 6, a two disc compilation of Enhanced Recordings’ progressive trance, mixed by Will Holland.
