Afrojack - Peanuts

You know that Afrojack sound. A new release from Nick van der Wall usually means a heavy dosage of that loud, aggressive [obnoxious] bleep blap bloop electro eardrum stab fest. In concert, that sound makes people go so nuts and everyone literally bounces like a bunch of little toddlers on crack jumping on an extra bouncy rocket launch NASA trampoline or something… but sitting at my desk, dancing shoes off, it’s freaking annoying. But I still want and expect it when I see Afrojack’s name on a track!

“Peanuts,” Afrojack’s latest release, doesn’t have that absurd electronic soundwave warfare. The signature Afrojack sound is absent. Without it, the song isn’t anything special. It’s sort of boring without vocals, plus the repetitive piano melody track is a bit moody, and the drop isn’t anything that will make the little ravers go “shit dude, a-jack dropped it H.A.M.” It’s just another electro house track.

Maybe his brain is being sucked out by all the pop star production he’s doing (like with Chris Brown and Paris Hilton… lolwut gross.) I just ate trail mix and got a handful of peanuts, and I was bummed. This track- similar feeling.

 

All this said, Afrojack is still a FORCE in EDM, he’s headlining like, every festival in North America and elsewhere (see Tomorrow World) and he produces the festival anthems, and his remixes are still adored.
