Boys Noize - Starwin

Posted on Jun 15, 2013 in Acid, Disco House, House

For those of you still in an emotional free fall over the loss of the more familiar Daft Punk, Boys Noize is here to catch you - at least, temporarily.

“Starwin” is along the lines of “Ich R U” in that it’s upbeat and reminiscent of classic tracks from the robotic French duo. The entire track is essentially a sample of Andy Gibb’s “Shadow Dancing” from 1978, a song Skrillex also used in “CAT RATS”. Besides the acid riffs that pop up occasionally, the arrangement is a pretty straightforward loop (nothing like “CAT RATS” if you needed reassurance). This is the exact kind of song that you would have expected to find somewhere on Random Access Memories, had the album been more like you expected.

This doesn’t mean Boys Noize is completely changing direction, though. “Starwin” will be released as part of the Go Hard EP which is all over the place. According to the German producer,

“I made one Acid/Hardcore/Rave/Break track, one very analogue Techno track, with no melody and no bass line just really intense Robot voices, one 909 Acid/Disco-House track with summer vibes, one Acid (T)Rap track that goes Hard !! (yes no one has brought the Acid sound into Rap/HipHop yet hehe)”.

If anything, Boys Noize just keeps expanding into new territories. The EP drops June 24th but you can stream three tracks, including “Starwin” - the “909 Acid/Disco-House” track with “summer vibes” - below.
