The Glitch-less Glitch Mob
The first instance I realized I might be somewhat of a Glitch Mob fan down the line was when one of our writers, BassChaperone, posted The Glitch Mob Drink The Sea Part 2: The Mixtape back in May. I listened to the mix tape all the and it was my ‘go to’ when hanging out at someone else’s place who didn’t have good music of his/her own, but I gave never really looked into their other stuff. A few weeks later my good friend, MistaRaab, showed me a Youtube Video entitled ‘The Apple Tree - Feat. The Glitch Mob‘ that takes movies clip cuts with Glitch Mob music in the background in an attempt to ‘relate sound to motion.’ I would recommend you watch the video under the influence and I’m not talking about alcohol. It is truly incredible.
The movie blew my mind to such a new level that I look back and can’t believe I didn’t immediately drive home and download every Glitch Mob track I could get my hands on. However, recently noticing that two of the Glitch Mob’s new tracks under Hypem’s Popular List (filtered by week) at the #1 and #5 spot finally allowed me to okay the fact that Glitch Mob has me in a trance. The two tracks are symhonic anthems with string progressions and trippy bass-lines that will make your head spin (in a good way). Ratatat fans may enjoy the sound of Glitch Mob, but also appreciate them for their unique style.
The Glitch mob is due to release a free MP3 download of the track with Lollapalooza, and the EP, “We Can Make the World Stop,” is set to be released on July 12th. For those of you located in Orlando, you can catch the trio at the Beacham on July 14th.
