Chris Lake & Michael Woods – Black Thong

Though the album artwork may make you think otherwise, this oddly-titled collaboration from Chris Lake and Michael Woods is hardly a humorous affair. ‘Black Thong’ brings the two producers back together after over two years since they released ‘Dominos’.

The track combines a gorgeous spectrum of sounds, beginning with a heart-pumping progressive house melody full of bright synths and a delicate piano, accelerating into a dark drop lain methodically with massive bass and frenetic squeaky synths. To some, the song may sound too much like two songs sandwiched into one, but I won’t fault Lake and Woods for trying something unique out. It may not be the breakout banger of 2012, but everyone should try on this ‘Black Thong’ for size.
