Alex Metric – Prophecies (Preview)

If you’re not familiar with Alex Metric yet, it’s time to catch up. He’s the man behind 2011’s summer festival anthem, ‘Open Your Eyes’, and has produced incredible remixes for dozens of artists. Alex Metric’s style of dance music is both memorable and intelligent.

Recently, he premiered the first single off of the second part of his Ammunition EP on Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio 1 program. The track, entitled ‘Prophecies’, was inspired by messing around with the Prophet One synth, which Metric recently added to his studio arsenal. He described the track as, “one idea done really well… still having the weight and the power, but being boiled down to the bare elements.” After listening through a couple times, you can really hear the raw simplicity of the track. The cascading riff is repeated for almost the entire song, but small and precise details throughout reveal a much more complex interior.

‘Propehcies’ will be released on December 3rd via OWSLA along with the rest of the Ammunition Pt. 2 EP  including ‘Motion Study’ featuring Oliver and remixes of ‘Rave Weapon’.
