dBerrie – Aquarius

We first encountered dBerrie after hearing his remix of ‘Rolling In The Deep’ by Adele. Probably the most remixed song of 2011, dBerrie’s version was one of the only to make it through the blog mire and actually have a huge impact on the dancefloor. Since then, we’ve watched the 24-year-old producer release a slew of successful remixes for Foster The People, Chris Brown, Lenny Kravitz, Sultan & Ned Shepard, Passion Pit, Gotye, Beyonce and more.

Today dBerrie sets the remixing aside and presents us with his original production ‘Aquarius’ released this week on Flamingo Recordings. ‘Aquarius’ was featured on Fedde Le Grand’s radio show, Dark Light Sessions and Fedde introduced it by naming dBerrie as, ”one of the biggest talents to come out of New York.” After giving ‘Aquarius’ a listen, I can say that the praise was well deserved. The track has a strong and smooth progressive sound that doesn’t have delusions of grandeur. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a mammoth track, but it demonstrates conscious restraint so as to avoid the common misstep that makes so many progressive house records sound cheesy and redundant.

Support a fantastic up-and-comer and purchase ‘Aquarius’ on Beatport now.
