Skrillex’s Foray Into Reggae
If there is one EDM producer that everyone into the scene has an eye on, it’s Skrillex. Love him or hate him, it’s impossible to ignore dubstep’s golden boy: not only does he create music loved by millions after transitioning from the screamo of From First to Last, but he has done a lot to propel dance music into the mainstream, remixing huge stars like Lady GaGa and even dating Britpop songstress Ellie Goulding. Pioneering a new sound, Skrillex isn’t the best or most original dubstep or electro, but his influence is undeniable.
Skrillex‘s most recent release is undoubtedly something we haven’t heard before, however. Working with the son of the wailer himself, Skrillex signs on Damian Marley to deliver reggae rhymes over stuttering dubstep beats. The result is interesting: reggae is not something that is ever found paired with EDM, so the novelty value is here–but it seems unlikely that it’ll be here to stay. Despite the dubious quality of Make It Bun Dem, it’s certainly a unique sound. Dubstep devotees will take to the song, but as for the rest of us, it’s probably best to give Skrillex a wide berth.

check out rusko’s new album “songs” if you like the reggae and dubstep mesh.
I’d say this is probably the best song Skrillex has ever made, mostly because of the vocals but still good enough for me.
This article is retarded, of course reggae and dubstep go hand in hand, what do you think dub is?
While I do agree that reggae and dubstep do sound good together, Skrillex’s Dubstep is quite far from Jah Shaka’s dub that you mention, which is indeed heavily influenced by reggae. Thus this article is not “retarted” like you state, as just because the author does not have the same subjective view point as you does not make it of any less quality.
