Recap: Nicky Romero Live @ Greystone Manor, Los AngelesAndrew Silberstein
This past Tuesday, the ICGYH crew was fortunate enough to be able to catch Nicky Romero‘s live DJ set at LA’s it-club of the moment: Greystone Manor. Greystone is normally open towards the end of the week, but has recently established a monthly Tuesday night event to showcase some of EDM’s hottest up-and-coming and established talent.
By the time we entered the venue, Nicky was already on the 1s and 2s, dropping hits like “Toulouse,” “Beta,” and an older record, “Seventy Two.” The crowd was cheering along with the Dutch gem, as seemingly endless bottles flowed freely at stageside tables. We even spotted EDX and Sebastian Ingrosso bobbing heads to Nicky’s two hour long set–a testament to how prominent this young man has become in the last few months.
My favorite moment of the night was when Nicky dropped “Wild One Two,” which he produced alongside EDM veteran David Guetta under their joint pseudonym Jack Back. Last month, Nicky signed a partnership agreement with Guetta to collaborate on several forthcoming releases, so we can look forward to hearing more anthemic progressive house tracks this year.
And let’s not forget Kryoman delivered the lasers as only he can do. We’ve seen him at Greystone before, and love the fact that the club keeps booking him to bring their EDM nights up a notch.
Tuesday summed up two things exactly: Greystone is still our favorite club in Los Angeles hands-down, and Nicky Romero is an EDM force to be reckoned with.
Shout out to Celia Atassi & Allie Stockton of EFGPR for access, and Wantickets for the photos.
