Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike Smash The Playhouse

Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike are two brothers from a town in Belgium that’s right next to Boom (the site of Tomorrowland). I was lucky enough to help my buddy Kyle Padilla shoot the official video for their Smash The USA tour stop at Playhouse Hollywood.

We met the guys at their hotel in Hollywood (a little hung over from raging at Voyeur in San Diego the night before) and walked around with them shooting the video. They were the nicest guys you could imagine. Totally down to earth and chill. Mike told us about how Eric Morillo was a huge influence on their careers and how back in the early 2000’s Dimitri was Djing in Ibiza and Mike was told by their mother to go and stay with his brother. From there the two started playing together and became what they are today.

2011 was a big year for the brothers as they released the Tomorrowland anthem “The Way We See The World” with Afrojack and the Nervo twins. Now 2012 is starting off with a bang as they release “Momentum” with Regi. The brothers were nice enough to let us use an unreleased Clockwork remix of “Momentum” in this video.

Dimitri and Mike cracked the top 100 in DJ Mag’s poll this year and said “It was a huge moment in our careers to finally be recognized.” At the end of the night Kyle and I left the club and it had started to rain. We were driving down Hollywood Blvd and saw Dimitri and Mike walking back to their hotel and we gave them a ride. They weren’t rolling with a huge crew and a bunch of groupies. Just the two brothers and a friend they had made at the club. They were really appreciative of the ride and hit us up the next week to party at Playhouse again. I think it’s great to see that fame hasn’t gotten to these guys heads. They also said they want to move to come live in LA.
