Review: Supperclub 12-14-11

First of all, wow. This night was insane. It was a quiet Wednesday night at around 8:15PM when I took a sleeping pill and was planning on going to bed early so I could wake up early the next morning. 15 minutes later, I get a message from Silby saying that David Dann and Chris Lake are playing at Supperclub in Hollywood and he wants someone to cover the show. I instantly jumped on it, despite the fact that I had a ticking time bomb in my stomache. So I went to my kitchen, took a couple shots of Ketel One, and met up with my friend, Ramano, who drove us to the venue.

Ramano and I got into the club right as it opened, where we were greeted by David Dann’s very welcoming manager, Anoush, who brought us on stage, gave us a couple drinks, and introduced us to David. The night started out with really housey, minimal tracks, and as the venue quickly filled up, I instantly felt the vibe shift from lounge/kickback to rage-mode when David dropped Alesso’s remix of “Pressure”. Along with the change of pace in music, the hostesses of Supperclub started their usual distribution of bottles as they all held up flares, which of course got the party started. Once the dance floor filled up, David started dropping songs off his new upcoming album which the crowd went crazy for. He started off the preview of his album with an upbeat track, “Opportunity”, and then transitioned into more deep-tech/house tracks like “Flight 314″ and “On Hold” which I was loving. He ended his set on a high note with his title track “Wristbands and Alcohol”, cleverly leaving the crowd yelling for more. Shit, I even wanted to hear more.

A few minutes later, Chris Lake got on stage and continued where David Dann left off. As expected, he dropped his massive banger, “Sundown”, along with some of my other favorites like Fedde Le Grand’s “Metrum”, and Calvin Harris’ “Flashback”. Debauchery ensued as we all raged into the morning. How I ended up not passing out in the middle of this, I’m not sure. But this had to have been one of the funnest nights I have ever had. Oh yeah, deadmau5 was there too.
